Buying Tickets
All the information you need to buy the tickets you've chosen.
Payment Methods

You can buy tickets with your Visa or MasterCard debit card or Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express credit card. To buy tickets, the billing address in your StubHub account must match the billing address associated with your credit or debit card. To process your purchase, we also require your card's 3-digit (or, for American Express, 4-digit) security code. For more information on security codes, click here.

When you purchase tickets, you pay the price of each ticket, a service fee equal to 10% of the total ticket cost, and a shipping or handling fee. Shipping fees range from $11.95 to $24.95, depending upon where and how quickly your tickets are being shipped. If you're picking up your tickets on the day of the event, there is a $15.00 handling fee to help cover the expense of the Last Minute Service Centers.

Unlike other ticket websites, StubHub doesn’t own the tickets you purchase. We’re fans, just like you, who are providing an active marketplace where fellow fans can gather to buy and sell tickets. By paying the 10% buyer commission, you’re helping us cover the cost of providing this service. Thank you!

Buying Tickets

When a seller lists tickets at a fixed price, you can purchase them immediately at the specified price. In auction-style listings, if the seller has set a Buy It Now price for the tickets, they are available for immediate purchase at the Buy It Now price until a bid is placed.

We encourage sellers to list tickets at fair market value. However, sellers are free to ask any price for their tickets. The price is non-negotiable. All prices are listed in U.S. Dollars.

After reviewing the ticket details in a listing, to purchase the tickets:

  1. Select the quantity you want from the drop-down menu and click the Buy button, or if you're viewing an auction-style listing with an available Buy It Now price, click Buy These Tickets Now. You may be prompted to log in.
  2. Your account's address information is automatically selected as the shipping address. Your additional contacts are also listed. Select the appropriate shipping address, or select Add New Address to specify a different shipping address.
  3. If the shipping address is the same as your billing address, select Yes. If the shipping address is different from your billing address, select No.
  4. Enter your credit or debit card information, including the card type, card number, expiration date, and security code. If you have saved credit or debit card information in your StubHub account, this information will appear automatically. If you want to use a different card, simply change the information to match the card you want to use.
  5. Select the billing address for your credit or debit card, if it is not already selected.

Note: The billing address you provide must match the billing address associated with the card you use to buy the tickets.

  1. If you have a gift certificate or FanCode, enter the code number in the Gift/FanCode field. Otherwise, leave this field blank.
  2. Click the Continue button.
  3. Review your order details to make sure all of the information is accurate. Remember, your order total equals the price of each ticket plus the 10% StubHub buyer commission plus shipping and/or handling. For more information, read about Paying Fees.

Important: To ensure a successful purchase, carefully examine the ticket details, double-check to make sure all of your shipping and billing information is correct, and read the StubHub User Agreement before proceeding.

  1. If you need to make any changes to your order, click the Back button. Otherwise, if all of the information is correct and you are ready to buy the tickets, click Place Order. In about 5 minutes, you'll get an email from us acknowledging your order.
  2. Your order ID number and order summary will display. Click the Print button to print this page for your records or, to continue browsing for tickets, click the Shop button.

Important: Although this completes your order, this does not complete the purchase. We authorize your credit or debit card at the time you place your order, but we will not charge your card until your order is confirmed. A seller has 48 hours to confirm an order.

As soon as the seller confirms your order, we’ll charge your card and send you another email to let you know when the seller will be shipping your tickets, or (if you’ll be picking up the tickets) the time and place your tickets will be available for pick-up.

Note: In some cases, a seller will not ship tickets immediately upon receiving an order. This is often the case for NBA, MLB, NHL and NFL ticket holders, for example, whose tickets may not be printed until a few weeks before the start of the season. In such cases, we'll let you know the date the seller expects to ship the tickets. Remember, you're protected by our FanProtect™ Guarantee and you'll get your tickets in time for the event.

In the rare case that your order remains unconfirmed beyond 48 hours, please give us a call at 1.866.STUBHUB (1.866.788.2482). We'll contact the seller about the delay in confirmation.

Bidding for Tickets

When a seller lists tickets in an auction-style sale, you can bid on the tickets until the sale ends. If you are the high bidder at the close of bidding, you win the tickets and the seller agrees to give you the tickets in exchange for the amount of your winning bid. If the seller has set a Buy It Now price for the tickets, they are available for immediate purchase at the Buy It Now price until a bid is placed. For more information, read about Buying Tickets.

After reviewing the ticket details in an auction-style listing, to bid on the tickets:

  1. Click the Place Bid button. You may be prompted to log in.
  2. The Current Bid, Minimum Bid, and Bid Increment display.

The Minimum Bid is the lowest bid amount the seller is willing to accept. The Bid Increment is the increase in dollar amount required for each new bid. For example, if the Current Bid is $60.00 and the Bid Increment is $5.00, the next bid must be at least $65.00.

  1. Enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay for all the tickets in the listing in the Your Maximum Bid field and click the Continue button.

Each time someone outbids you, we'll automatically increase your bid by the specified bid increment until you win the tickets or your maximum bid amount is reached, whichever comes first.

Important: An authorization for the amount of your Maximum Bid (plus fees) is sent to your credit or debit card each time you place a new bid. Although your card is not charged until the sale ends (if you are the high bidder) and the seller confirms your order, debit card issuers will withhold funds (up to 48 hours) for each authorization your account receives. Therefore, when bidding on auction-style listings, we recommend always using a credit card.

  1. Follow the remaining steps, just like any other purchase.

Important: Before you click the Place Bid button, carefully examine the ticket details, double-check to make sure all of your shipping and billing information is correct, and read the StubHub User Agreement.

  1. If you're ready to start bidding, click the Place Bid button.

If you don't win the auction, we do not charge your card and we will not notify you of the result.

If you win, we'll send you an email to let you know. However, we will not charge your credit or debit card until your order is confirmed. A seller has 48 hours to confirm an order.

As soon as the seller confirms your order, we’ll charge your card and send you another email to let you know when the seller will be shipping your tickets, or (if you’ll be picking up the tickets) the time and place your tickets will be available for pick-up. Remember, your order total equals the price of each ticket plus the 10% StubHub buyer commission plus shipping or handling. For more information, read about Paying Fees.

In the rare case that your order remains unconfirmed beyond 48 hours, give us a call at 1.866.STUBHUB (1.866.788.2482). We'll contact the seller about the delay in confirmation.

Paying Fees

We will show you your order total before you place the order or bid on tickets. The total amount of your StubHub ticket purchase equals:

  • The full price of the tickets (or, in auction-style listings, the full amount of your winning bid), plus
  • A commission equal to 10% of the full ticket price (or winning bid amount), and
  • A shipping or handling fee
    • Shipping: $11.95 to $24.95 (depending upon where your tickets are being shipped and the shipping option you choose)
    • Handling: $15.00 for ticket pick-up

Unlike other ticket websites, StubHub doesn't own the tickets you purchase. The 10% commission helps us provide the StubHub marketplace where fans can gather to buy and sell tickets.

Using Coupons, Fan Codes and Gift Certificates

FanCodes and Gift Certificates contain coded identification numbers for authenticity. Each unique code number can be used only once. To redeem a FanCode or Gift Certificate, enter the code number in the Gift/FanCode field during the ticket-buying process.

You can only use one FanCode per ticket purchase. However, if you have multiple gift certificates, you can combine them to use all at once. To combine your gift certificates:

  1. Click My Account at the top of the StubHub web page. You may be prompted to log in.
  2. Under My Info, click FanCodes.
  3. Type your gift certificate's code number in the Enter FanCode field.
  4. Click the Continue button.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each of your gift certificates.

If you're not quite ready to buy tickets, don't worry. There's no time limit to use gift certificates. Any gift certificates you enter in your account will remain there until you're ready to use them.

Note: StubHub Coupons, FanCodes, and Gift Certificates cannot be used to purchase Gift Certificates. For more information, please read our Gift Certificate Policy.

Postponed Events

If an event has been postponed and rescheduled, your tickets are yours to use on the new date. Hold on to your tickets and use them on the rescheduled date. If you're unable to use the tickets, you may be able to post them for sale at StubHub.

If the event has not yet been rescheduled, continue to monitor the situation. We will re-list the event as soon as a date is announced. Again, you can attend the event on the rescheduled date or, if time permits, post them for sale at StubHub.

If a postponed event is ultimately cancelled, read about Cancelled and Contingent Events.

Unfortunately, the circumstances surrounding postponed events are unpredictable. Although we will try to help you resolve your ticket situation, we are not responsible for postponed events, partial performances, or venue, date, or time changes. No refunds will be issued.

Authorizing your Credit or Debit Card

When you place an order, we authorize your credit or debit card for the amount of the order. However, we will not charge your card until the seller confirms your order.

Note: When bidding for tickets in an auction-style sale, an authorization for the amount of your Maximum Bid (plus fees) is sent to your credit or debit card each time you place a new bid. Although your card is not charged until the sale ends (if you are the high bidder) and the seller confirms your order, debit card issuers will withhold funds (up to 48 hours) for each authorization your account receives. Therefore, when bidding on auction-style listings, we recommend always using a credit card.

StubHub Fans' Code of Conduct

We want you to have a great time at the events you attend, but ask that you keep in mind the StubHub sellers who make it possible. Please avoid any behavior that could impact the seller's standing with a team or venue. Remember, you're buying tickets from other fans just like you.

Be Aware of Venue Policies

Make sure you're aware of a venue's rules and regulations, including policies on drinking and smoking. You can often find this information posted on the venue's website and at the venue itself.

Although StubHub cannot be responsible - and is not liable - for buyer's behavior at events, buyers may be held accountable for any behavior that affects a seller's status with a team or venue.

Additional Security Measures for Big Ticket Events

We're proud to be able to feature some of the most sought-after tickets to the biggest, most celebrated events on the continent. Events that used to be impossible to get into - the Super Bowl, World Series, and Masters Golf Tournament, to name a few - are now available through reliable, guaranteed interactions between buyers and sellers in the StubHub marketplace.

Because of the increased market value of these tickets, we may implement additional security measures for certain Big Ticket events. If added security measures are in place, we'll let you know in the notes on the Event Page and by email when you place an order or create a listing.

Security Measures for Buyers

Since every event is different, the security measures put in place will vary from time to time. However, if you're buying tickets to a Big Ticket event, the additional security measures will usually include:

  • Completing a StubHub Credit Card Authorization form before your order is accepted.
  • Picking up the tickets you purchase at the Last Minute Service Center handling ticket sales for the event.
Security Measures for Sellers

Again, security measures will vary by event. However, if you're selling tickets to a Big Ticket event, the additional security measures will usually include:

  • Completing a StubHub Credit Card Authorization form before you are allowed to list.
  • Providing the tickets in advance to the Last Minute Service Center handling ticket sales for the event.
Why the extra precautions?

We realize that these are big events that offer once-in-a-lifetime experiences. No matter how you look at it, these purchases or sales are important to the fans using the StubHub marketplace. We will do everything we can to make sure these exchanges go smoothly, and taking these precautions will help us provide the level of guarantee you need and have come to expect from us. The additional security measures are in the best interest of everyone – buyers, sellers, and yes, us too!
